5 out of 5 stars As trainers go, this one is very good   January 23, 2010

Let's put this right up front: I don't like riding on trainers. I would rather be outside riding, but the fact is, I live in Colorado and there are a few months of the year where I have to make a decision: freeze or ride the trainer. While I don't like riding trainers, I like freezing even less.

This trainer makes it almost palatable. It is incredibly stable and smooth. The progressive resistance feels very natural, and you know you're working if you are spinning anything over about 18mph. The mat is actually fairly nice (and a real necessity if you're doing a long ride on the trainer because YOU WILL SWEAT).

They didn't really mention it in the write-up, but it has a release mechanism that makes it faster than normal to remove the bike. One of the things I hate most about a trainer is when it happens to be nice enough outside to ride, it's a pain to get the bike out easily. Cyclops has a good quick release, but I'm riding this one because I've seen too many cyclops that leak. Anyway, this release isn't as elegant as the cyclops, but you don't have to turn the bolt 100 times to release the bike.

Overall, I'm very happy with this trainer. I've got ~300 miles on it so far and I don't want to cry because it's still too cold to ride outside. One thing to note (if you're a new trainer rider), put a fan in front of you!

Excellent system. Set-up was intuitive for the trainer. The computer directions were easy to follow.

Arrived promptly, it was easy & simple to assemble. There is a video to assist in the assembly, but wasn't necessary. Works great, very fluid and consistent resistance. Was a good package deal if your getting started with a trainer.

4 out of 5 stars Good Solid trainer   August 27, 2009

This trainer is everything I expected. Kurt trainers have a good reputation, and I see why, the trainer is solid, I feel it would be impossible to tip it over no matter how hard the work effort (it is pretty heavy). I'm a 180 lbs rider and it feels solid while standing. To setup the bike it takes a little bit longer than some other trainers, but it's more solid than others. Also given it's a fluid trainer its nice not to mess with other setting of resistance, all you need is to click your gears up or down and it's a consistent resistance. Of course, it's still and inside trainer, but you don't get any scenery, but if you're serious about training or getting into better condition, I would recommend this trainer. Only down side I'd give this (and why it didn't get 5 stars) is the computer, it's not the best, it didn't add much to the price so I suppose you get what you pay for, and at least it gives you some sort of visibility as to the workload. But I use this trainer mainly for heart rate training, since in a group ride setting it's nearly impossible to focus on what your own needs or requirements are compared to what pace the group is riding.

5 out of 5 stars Great product!   November 22, 2008

Bought this product to fit on my third floor. I had to purchase a slick for my mountain bike, but besides that the unit works great. It was easy to assemble and is quiet. I can ride early in the morning and not wake our 11 month old.
